A very basic and subjective answer: Because I don't want to wait in
order to receive (and take the trouble to delete it later - to save disk
space and to keep my mailbox compact - it's already > 2Gb!!) any number
of images that "I haven't requested" and/or "I may not particularly care
about"...
Text based list format is nice; it's compact and neat. Most importantly,
I have the choice to read mail with the color and fonts "I have
chosen"... (I'm often annoyed to read mail written in - let's say - 16
points, bold, pink, comic font ect. Yes I'm exaggerating here but you
got the idea...) Read this as I'm also opposing to HTML mail format.
(Unless it's used in a reasonable way.)
To me, it's not a technical problem (for many of us - but there could be
a significant number of people who also has technical problems with this
practice), it's more a netiquette / good manners / ethics problem.
Regards,
Loris.

No-one has yet answered my basic
question, if attachments can be sent on other sites and all the
'problems'
raised here are not problems on those sites, why not have attachments
here ? ATB
