(This is a re-submit; I sent it two days ago but it never came back
on the list.):
If attachments are sent to the list, I will have to unsubscribe. My
ancient mail program (Eudora) that I used for nearly ten years used
to download pictures less than 100Kb in a few seconds, but my brand
new mail program (the Mac Mail program that came with my G5) takes
15-20 minutes to download the smallest attachment to a mail message.
I don't know why it is, but that's how it is.
The logic of saying that if you can download a picture from a website
in your browser, you should be able to downloading an attachment in
your mail program just as easily doesn't work for me; I've never
found that to be the case, and I think the two things must work
differently. There is a good reason why there are these rules about
attachments on mailing lists (and it's true for all mailing lists
that I know of, not just this one.)
