If the mailing list moves I would very strongly recommend that it go
to freelists.org and not yahoogroups.com.

I belong to a few fairly old mailing lists that wound up on
yahoogroups.com after bouncing around among various academic, private,
and commercial servers. The quality of service at yahoogroups.com is
seriously lacking. On unmoderated lists I've seen messages not make
it to the list, and messages delayed for extended periods. To top it
off last November yahoogroups.com started reformatting all messages so
that they have an HTML attachment duplicating the contents of the
message. By April of this year my 2007 archive of one of these lists
was larger than my archive for all of 2006. That means message size
at least tripled.

Disk space is cheap, but it's not free. (It's not really cheap, but
people tend to ignore backups, archives, reliability, and all that
other nice stuff.)

The lists that I belong to that moved to freelists.org have had none
of these problems.
