Take a run down to Home Despot or Lowles & wander over to the concrete
section. There you'll find something called sono-tubes (I think that's what
they're called)
They are the cardboard tubes that are placed in the ground as forms for
footings & light supports. HD stocks them something up to 15" diameter. If
you go to a place that sells concrete you can find them over 20" in
diameter. They are typically 48" long and are easily made light tight with a
coat or 2 of matte black paint. It's easy since the diameter is so big.
I make the front out of black foam core. The back it usually made out of
either foam core or plywood. I build a small support structure out of scrap
wood.
I can send you a photo of my "48" off list if you want, just send me an
email address..

I want to try making some large pinhole camers - "12 x 18" and larger.
