Re: Keeping on

When I first became interested in pinhole photography in 2000, this
list was a a great resource; I loved not only the quality of
information here, but the wonderfully wacky ideas people had and
shared. I remember a picture of a house that was photographed
through the middle hole in a saltine cracker; the other holes were
plugged up with peanut butter, and then after the photograph was
made, the camera was eaten. I remember a picture of a farm wagon
that was turned into a pinhole camera. I remember a blind man who
made wonderful pinhole images and had very interesting things to say
about it. The archives of this list must be full of such gems, and
I'm glad they're being preserved. I also loved the civil tone of the
discussion here, different from some other forums I was familiar with.

I haven't been doing so much pinhole photography lately, but intend
to get back into it soon. I haven't been actively seeking
information or company around pinhole photography, but I always enjoy
it when something pops into my mailbox from the list.

Like others of the old school, I prefer the mailing list format. I
don't ever remember to check in at f295, and the few times I've gone
there, I haven't seen anything that makes me want to keep checking
back. I don't see the two as competing, or the web site as a
satisfactory substitute for the mailing list.
