Actually, the process isn't difficult to control as long as you control the
variables that affect exposure. Exposing with the sun will give you the least
repeatable experience possible because the variables can be so wide. A UV box
will take care of that. Also, your choice of paper, whether you single or
double coat, which formula you use, the density of your negative, and other
things can affect your results. It's just like using photo paper in the
darkroom - remove the variables, test, and you'll find that you can depend upon
getting the results you want.
