Especially to Tom and to the rest,
I hear you re your comeback from cancer! What encouraging news! Sound
the drums of victory! Must be something in the air--My prayers and good wishes
are so very much with you as you regain/reclaim your strength and footing.
Funny you should write about that----I completed my podcast with
George's "One Minute How To" the day before submerging myself in fast and furious
chemo that seems to be stretching from here to eternity! Me? I'll be finished in
Oct.
While undergoing treatment for this second bout in five years, I am at
least able to do Polaroid manipulations on days I feel like moving around.
It is disconcerting that we as a nation spend so much money on war efforts
and have not come up with a vaccine to eliminate the scourge of cancer,
which, according to NIH is now considered a chronic disease. Perhaps I'm being
selfish. but a port's not my idea of a fashion accent.
Thank God for photography and those who promote the cause! The trick is
to NOT submerge one's self in the sub culture of cancer, but to put it in it's
proper place; while avoiding support groups. I, too am planning on documenting
some of the scenes around Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown University
Hospital. I can' t believe how every-day and common such treatment exists, and
there are a treatment scenarios scenarios worth filming. And I suspect there are
very many art photographers battling tumors while still trying to get their
work out and into exhibitions. Also, Lombardi has great exhibition
opportunities, so if anyone is interested, I could find a point of contact for exhibiting
work. Everything I see at Lombardi is top-notch.
