Please listen up, AOL users.
Some of you may remember that earlier this year, we had a problem
where AOL users were hitting a "this is spam" button in response
to valid messages coming over the pinhole-discussion list. It is
happening again. When this happens, I catch heat from my ISP, and
the operation of this list, my other lists, and my other users'
email accounts are all endangered. AOL's "this is spam" button
works anonymously, so there is not even any way for me or my ISP
to figure out who's hitting the button.
The list *is* bombarded by spam every day, and so far, I am pleased
to note, none of it has gotten through. Of course, I get to read
every one of 'em, in all their pink, lunchmeaty glory.
I encourage the user(s) who are hitting this button to unsubscribe,
plain and simple. If you don't know how, email me directly, or hit
reply to this message and ask me to remove you.
I encourage those of you on AOL who have another email account to
unsubscribe from your AOL account and to subscribe from your other
account because someday soon this list may go dark for you, for no
good reason.
And as I said earlier in the year: if you really can't stand what
certain people have to say, or how certain topics are going, hit
the delete key or learn to use the filters built into your email
program. This is a low traffic and good natured list, and there
is nothing happening here to warrant taking it down.
