Giclee vs other names

I believe the person who asserts to have comeup with
the term "giclee" is a member of this list, or maybe
cameramakers; I can't remember, so this is not a
personal dig at him...

I am curious what other terms are widely accepted to
refer to this process.

Urban legend has it that calling these prints inkjet
or limiting them to "Iris print" when other
manufacturers than "Iris" began making such printers,
a more 'artsy' name was needed.

However, I understand French speakers find the term
inappropriate because it is a sexual term. Whether
impolite or not, the question has been raised in some
circles, academic and otherwise about a term without
dual meaning that English speakers can use in all
social circumstances without sounding like 'rookies'
or worse.

If there are any French-speakers out there, what do
YOU recommend?

I currently stumble over 'digital archival print' but
don't hide the fact that they are inkjet also...it
would be nice to know if they are pigment, dye,
whatever, but it seems that many people don't know if
they don't make it themself (as is likely in this
group, but not among purchasers/collectors).
