To Tom Lindsay re inkjet printer o'choice:
I may speak for a few other folks as well who are happy with the Epson
Stylus Photo 2200. With this printer and Photoshop CS2, I have not needed a RIP,
and when used with the ultra-fabulous Red River papers-- which by the way
furnish downloadable profiles at www.redriver.com for whatever paper(s) of theirs
you use--and also by paying strict attention to Epson site printing tweaks, the
2200 gives really poppy prints. (I print only with Red River papers, i.e.,
their 66 lb. Polar Gloss and matte varieties.) The 2200 outputs panoramic
pinhole prints, as individual paper size goes to 11 x 17; the roll paper attachment
is included for wider work.
There is a newer, more uptown (natch) Epson printer, but I am happy with
the 2200 and plan to invest in a large Wacom tablet to relieve my Photoshop
index "fingeritis."
Hope this helps.
