Disclaimer: I'm not a gallery owner, so it really doesn't matter what I think about this.
However....
Having made both, I think of silver prints as "hand made" and inkjet prints as "mass
produced". I know there are elements of mass production in silver materials, and
personal attention in the production of inkjet prints, but that's how I feel.
As a photographer, the difference between darkroom work and computer-aided
imaging is the experience. To me, darkroom work feels like "craft" and computer-aided
imaging feels like "engineering". Since engineering is my day job, I prefer the
darkroom for my photography.
I'm pretty sure none of this means anything to the buying public.
YMMV.
