Some sort of pinhole glasses have been used (by ophthalmologist) for hundred
of years, they even use them today as diagnostic tool. The problem with
companies selling them these days is all the phony claims they make. They
do make you see sharper by blocking light, just like a pinhole in a pinhole
camera. I'd bet they can be very useful on the north pole in summer! Your
Eskimo guide can wear a pair of the slit goggles his ancestor use to wear,
but you could be the cooler guy wearing your pinhole glasses!
When giving pinhole seminars, I have in the past used an small oval shaped
piece of cardboard with a pinhole in its center, then I ask people to place
it right close and in front of their eye and I give them a piece of paper
for them to read, they are surprised at how close they can have the piece of
paper and still be able to read it.
