I use pieces of masking tape as markers. The tape shows that there is
unexposed film in the can. When the exposure is made, I'll remove the tape.

On cans larger than 35 film canisters, I'll often write the date, subject,
exposure value, exposure time, etc. on the tape. At home, I can take the
tape and put it in my photo notebook without having to copy the info.
