Hi Christina,
Welcome to the list. There have been two types of pinhole photo swaps. One
near the end of the year called the "Holiday Swap" which was a photo postcard
swap and is informal. But many people mail images in envelopes to avoid mail
damage. You may post your intent to swap on a web page set up by a very
generous list member. You have the option to send a card to all on the list
or a few you can get at random.
We have also had formal swap in the past which some one[or more] on the list
volunteers to organize the swap. Usually it is divided by subject or
technique and one can submit to the group of choice. In this swap, maybe 10
participants, everyone sends prints to the whole list.
I have been involved in several of these and they are great. The images an
ideas are inspiring. I have to admit I prefer to send to all since it is
disappointing to send out 50 postcards and sometimes get 30 back. But I
understand everyone has the choice in the informal swap.
This year there was no Formal Swap since a good sized portion of us tried the
Pinhole Camera Swap organized by Chris. We were divided into 3 groups by
various interests/techniques. We had our glitches but it has been a great
learning and sharing adventure at least in my opinion.
I hope this was not too much info at once! This is the best group of people I
have ever worked with on the Internet. Enjoy
