Infrared in a pinhole is no different from infrared in a lensed camera. You need to know
your hole's f-stop, and calculate based on the ASA of the film. Generally, your
exposures will need to be bracketed, since a normal meter doesn't measure infrared.
Also, because it's pinhole, they are going to be LONG. Finally, yes, it generally is wise
to use a #29 red or a wratten infrared filter, or the IR effect will not be very pronounced.
These will require additional exposure compensation, yes. Specifics depend on the film
you use.
For general IR information, I would suggest Laurie White's "Infrared Photography
Handbook". Be aware that she focuses primarily on Kodak HIE. She doesn't like
Konica. In my edition, there's no mention of Maco, either, but it either hadn't come out
yet, or was not yet readily available in the US. Her discussions sometimes are so biased
that you might think you're reading an official Kodak promo piece. But the technical info
is invaluable, and her methodology is sound.
