any finney users out there?I wanted to see if anyone has found a good way to see what they are shooting on the ground glass.my eyes are not as good as when I was 25 but that is a whole other post.I thought of placing a small lense[god forgive me for uttering that word]-maybe an enlarging lense just to get an idea of my composition.or how about a bigger pinhole on a 2nd lense board?what works for you?
thanks for your help,

Chip,
The viewing screen is basically useless for pinhole compositions. I
talked to Mr. Finney on the phone, and he confirmed as much. His
original intention, from what I remember talking to him, was to make a
super light weight traditional large format camera, wich could obviously
use the ground glass. I had him make a lens board which I mounted an
old Speedgraphic lens, and, as such, allows the camera to be used as a
traditional view camera, albeit without many movements. With a lens the
glass is usable, but for me, when using a pinhole, I forget about the glass.
I have had great results just standing behind the camera, determining
where the corners of the film are, and then creating a mental imaginary
line from the corner of the film, through the pinhole, and out towards
the subject. I can come extremely close to knowing exactly what is
going to be in the compostion this way, and can do it pretty fast, after
practice.
Good luck to you!
