Slit manufacture

I replied without reading all the other traffic...

look into electron microscope grids. They are
typically made by electroplating, are 3-3.15 mm
diameter with various patterns in them, ranging from a
limited range of single holes to multiple slits. I'm
not sure about single slits...

I do know there are no 'stock' ones that serve as zone
plates for visible wavelengths, although I have read
of self-supporting all metal ones for x-ray wavelength
zone plates. (custom).

Some are as thin as 0.0007".

I think Chris Patton uses the single hole ones. They
are as inexpensive as approximately US$20/100 discs.
