I lived there (Chicago West suburbs)'83-87, having
moved there from the milder climate of the
Philadelphia area.

That first winter is was -30 F for three weeks
straight (-80 F wind chill).

I did find myself asking why White Sands was where
they test missiles and people chose to live in Chicago
:O). I wondered if that was a mistake.

I got used to it, and quickly grew to prefer the
Midwest.

At least there are no bugs in winter.
