I had heard of this plan while in NYC this last October, the gist being that terrorists
may decide to take photgraphs of the subway network as a preperation for some devious
plot. What I also remember reading is that the MTA would issue you a one day permit to
photograph, I have to assume that they would also require you to submit to a background
check prior to receiving any permit. While I am completely cognizant of the need for
caution in the new reality we live in, the other half of me questions the tact behind
this ban. My thinking is that this will have about as much to do with national security
as the banning of nail clippers from airliners. I don't want anyone to think I have an
anarchistic bent; as I am employed in the field, at least on the periphery. This all
smells like horse pucky to me. If I had been in the area, I probably would have been
there, pinhole camera in hand. Excuse the rant but remember: when cameras are
outlawed-only the outlaws will have cameras. Count me in,
