Thanks Jean,
I agree that Pirila's work is more interesting. But Morell's work is probably seminal. He has also published a rather interesting photo book on books. I find inspiration in all these works which then influence (or confirm) my own work.
As someone famous said: "We're only as tall as the shoulders of those we stand on..."
Best regards and happy shootings,
Guy
P.S. Despite all my efforts, I still have'nt found the reference to this pinhole photographer doing stage photography with her pinhole camera...
If I ever find the reference, I'll make sure to post it on the list.

Dear Guy, I have been trying to locate the book of photos by Marja Pirila and have no luck. Maybe there isn't one yet. It is too late to fly half way around the world and see the show in the gallery. Anyway, I do appreciate your sharing the website with me. It was an eye opener. When you do find the work of the woman whose theatre work you are seeking, I hope you will let us know too. I bought Alberaldo Morrell's book "Camera Obscura" and enjoyed looking at the photos, but after a while they begin to look somewhat alike so I am trying to sell it again on half dot. com. Obviously he did a lot of hard work to get some fine images but I have now had a taste of Pirila's work and hunger for more..Thanks, Jean

Thanks to those who provided the reference to Marja Pirila.

Her work was a real discovery for me. It is a fantastic picture being shown
at
http://www.backlight.fi/bl02/pirila.htm
This is exceptional work (quite apart from the tough technical difficulties
that need to be resolved with each picture). Her idea to place a person in
the central focus of the image and both the inside and outside of the room
showing as background though the help of pinhole is really far-reaching.
IMHO, this goes far beyond what Aberaldo Morell does with his pictures of
pinhole projections on walls of rooms in various parts of the world.

YET...
Marja Pirila is not/not the person I am looking for.

I remember seeing colour pinhole pictures of a theatrical stage with gostly
shadows of actors moving on the stage. These were obviously shot on high
ISO colour negative film and printed on colour paper. Does that sound any
bell?

Thanks for any firther help that may take me to these images.

Best regards,

Guy

    Here's another call for help.

Does anyone know the name / reference for this (woman?) pinhole artist
      who
does stage photography with her pinhole camera. I believe she is from a
nordic country.

There was some discussion of her work on the list a few years ago.

Thanks,

Guy
