I was thinking more about in-between the preflash & exposure. I remember
there being a drop off in the effectiveness of preflashing as time wares
on..

Generally speaking, film should be developed soon after exposure.
Admittedly, I have let film sit for a month before getting around to
developing it without noticing ill effects, but I wouldn't want to push it.
