Hi Eric,
Could you please explain me what is it the "pinhole discussion digest"? Is
it another discussion list? Am I supposed to unsubscribe from this one now
to subscribe to the "digest". What is it the "digest" all about? Thank you,
Ric

Assunto: Re: [pinhole-discussion] Subscribe/Unsubscribe form?
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry that it's taken me a long time to get around to answering
these questions. I wanted to be fairly confident in my answers.
Trent Dowler writes:

The list presently uses an old piece of software called majordomo.
majordomo predates the web, and while people are still developing tools
for it, there's no "form" in the basic installation. All commands are
meant to be emailed in to the majordomo address.
To subscribe to the main list, send the words
subscribe pinhole-discussion
to majordomo@spitbite.org
To unsubscribe, send the words
unsubscribe pinhole-discussion
to majordomo@spitbite.org
To subscribe to the digest, send the words
subscribe pinhole-discussion-digest
to majordomo@spitbite.org
To unsubscribe, send the words
unsubscribe pinhole-discussion-digest
To change from the regular list to the digest, unsubscribe from the
former and subscribe to the latter.
This is a good opportunity to mention that YOU MUST POST FROM THE ADDRESS
YOU'RE SUBSCRIBED AS. When you don't, it gets bounced to me and I have
to approve and resend your message for you. I would rather not have to
do that. This is one of several anti-spam measures protecting the lists.

The archives are not available yet. I have been waiting for the
opportunity to rebuid spitbite.org on a more powerful computer with a
contemporary operating system, and that opportunity is finally coming
together. I hope to move the list within the next two weeks -- this
move should be completely transparent to you -- and to have the archives
available by the end of November. My feeling is that significant work
needs to be done on the archives to purge them of all email addresses;
with my own spam topping out at 300+ incoming messages/day, I do not
want to be the one responsible for your addresses getting harvested by
the evil ones.
I'll close by saying that, once the new server is stable, I will look
into using mailman again as the list manager. mailman was the program
that the list used to run under, and while I know that there are some
unpleasant things on the administration side, the enhanced ability for
subscribers to manage their own accounts is a definite plus.
Thanks, everyone, for your patience.
