my favorite pinhole cameras have been film-based; paper negatives drive
me nuts, both in terms of exposure time and difficulty of making
satisfactory prints. That said, while I love the pinhole body cap on my
35mm SLR for its convenience, and have made some very successful images
with it, the negatives just aren't big enough. I've been much happier
with my "LochLomo" (modified Clack - 6x9 neg) though I want more
shutter control than that camera gives me.

Not knowing what you are going to get in advance in terms of field of
view is both a plus and a minus; I find a greater incidence of "happy
accidents" than with, say, the Holga, but also many more rolls and
rolls of nothing worthwhile. (Putting a zone plate on my digital SLR
has been pleasing for this, though I prefer the look of pinhole to zone
plate; it just looks more intentional and not like a focusing accident.)

The incredible depth of field. The ability to play with scale and
perception. And the unusual perspectives.

Nothing intrinsic; I find that pinhole is just not useful for many of
my projects because of the emotional resonance given by the softness of
the image, but then again, my ultra-telephoto isn't useful for many of
my projects either.
