Somewhere I heard something about the phenomenon of
absence of scattered light..possibly on this
list...the scenario described was that if one goes
down into a well (the kind with a bucket, I
guess)during the day, stars will be visible because
the angle of view somehow eliminates the scattered
blue sky light.
