When working with high school students, who we all know have ALL of life's
answers and we adults are all sooooo dumb often pay little attention to
anyone with real experience! ;-)
As I have gotten older my 26 year old is amazed at how smart I am now!
When I do workshops with younger students I often have one of my good
students make up a large batch of pre-poked aluminum blanks and let the
students sand the burrs. But 5th - high school and beyond I have them make
their own.
The thoughts of students attempting to push pins/needles through
aluminium-masonite causes me to break out in a 'cold sweat'too. But some
still try it because if I really knew what I was doing would I be teaching?
They still think I chose teaching because I couldn't do anything else! :-)
Thanks for the URL below it has some great examples I can use in class.
Take Care,
Chuck

RE: workshop/making apertures.
Just the thought of students attempting to push pins/needles through
aluminium-masonite causes me to break out in a 'cold sweat'.
I now use a hobby-craft knife and a cork sanding block - works well - no
sutures or bandages required!.
