By clamping my #10 needle in a vice grip with only about a millimeter
sticking out, I can pretty consistently make about .33mm pinholes.
It's pretty nearly impossible to get any nearer to the tip because you
have to hold the needle tip with something in order to clamp it in the
vicegrips and thats about as little as you can hold with another pair
of pliers. Might be tough to actually drill a hole if I could get any
nearer to the tip.
Time to go find some of those smaller needles. Much easier to just use
the full diameter of the drilling implement.
The synthetic aperture masks sound intriguing, but in a workshop
situation, I think an important part of the experience is making the
optical system of the camera yourself.
