Hello All,
Nick, for your question about how to cut a hole in your film
canisters--- could you try using a heated tool? Since you are working
with adults this might be the ticket. Plastic melts well. You might try
an old soldering tool or an adjustable temperature wood burner. I have
not done this so watch for fumes or fire.
Some where may postings ago a fellow pinholer used a heated needle and
black construction paper to create a pinhole lens. This might be an
option as well for your group.
There is a company (electron microscopy sciences) that sells electron
microscope apertures. They are called "single slot grids (aperture
grids)" Tom Miller turned me onto them. They are about the size of a
hole punch with the aperture etched into the center. The material of
the aperture is a very thin copper foil. I cannot place my hands on the
chart of sizes. But I believe that they are sized in (um) as a
measurement for the aperture.

I wish you the best with your workshops. To teach a teacher gives you a
chance to reach all young people they will teach. I commend you!
