You bring up another point I had forgotten - I believe that Maco has the antihalation layer, which makes a real difference when working with the "halo" effect. I have not heard of Aura.
I would encourage people to give infrared a try. The images at the bottom of http://tinyurl.com/6m47h were captures with Kodak IR 4X5 (HSI). If you do decide to give it a try, wear gloves when loading the film or your fingerprints will show on the negatives.
