As I understand it, a variable focal length pinhole is exactly what it says.
Simply that the pinhole is mounted on a tube that can be moved inside
another tube, closer or further away from the film plane. The only problem,
is that exposure times need to be adjusted for the distance.
On Taco's point, I have heard of cameras made from the photo paper, simple
cube net. Photo taken, opened out and developed. An interesting picture
results.
