Guy, I've often been asked a similar question about the pinhole image and the
ability to replicate almost anything...including the pinhole "look"...with
computer/digital manipulation.
In my research, and also in my own work...the final image is one part of
pinhole puzzle. The attraction to pinhole often begins with a personal aesthetic
that favors the less defined, the obscure, and the subjective.
However, one continues to make "pinhole" images in pinhole for another
reason. I think it comes down to the "aura" (alla Walter Benjamin) of pinhole … the
process ... the performance of pinhole image making that differs from film or
digital camera "taking."
And good pinhole work is part of that "aura."
