Re: pinhole discussion - camera swap

Hey! I'm still interested in the camera swap. You betcha! I've been
chomping at the bit since it was first mentioned.

A couple of my thoughts about organization -

I don't get as much time as I'd like to work on photography, a few hours a
week at most, but I can see how those with their own darkrooms and more free
time would want more frequent swaps than 1 per month. Maybe the number of
people who participate will dictate swap frequency? Maybe there would be a
once a month group and another group that swaps more frequently? - Just a
thought.

Another thing. I think I remember a discussion about breaking the groups up
geographically somehow to save mailing costs - groups by continent for
example. If that's what happens, I'd really like to be in a mixed group.
The little bit of extra expense is not that big a deal to me compared to the
richness of an International swap.

About the prints - I'd like to get a copy of what others produce with my
camera. Maybe at the least, could we agree to send a print to whoever owns
the camera we happen to be using that month (or week)? I'd be game for more
printing, too, but sometimes it takes me many hours to produce something
nice in the darkroom, and I doubt I'm alone in that, and I'd really like to
see (and produce) a few high quality images as opposed to a bunch on
hastilly produced images.

I agree that public discussion of the exchange could be interesting for many
not involved, especially if prints are available for viewing on some
website, similar to WPPD. But maybe we could use a constant subject line so
that anyone not interested could simply skip that particular message? I
don't know, I'm just a believer in building interest and open communication;
whatever the group(s) decides will be fine with me.

Really looking forward to this. Great idea, whoever first posed it - Jim
