Mike,
One suggestion I have might be able solve your dilemma. I have made several
converted pinhole cameras out of broken or cheap garage sale 35mm cameras.
We have a thrift shop near us that often has $.50 cameras. All I care is
that I can hopefully keep the winding function working so I get frame
advance at least by depressing the shutter button and be able to wind.
I think I might have one or two left at school that I would be willing to
send you one to convert to pinhole if that would help? What little 4x5 or
larger that I have attempted I have used tin cans like candy cans, popcorn
cans that are that size or larger.
I know a while back Marcy Merrill had some "brown" pinhole cameras she was
converting and selling I think pretty cheaply.
If you are interested in a possible free one contact me offline and I will
check availability right away.
Take Care,
Chuck Flagg

Chris, I'm interested too. To piggyback on Jean's questions, tho, I'm
wondering about
format. When I do pinhole, I shoot 4x5, 8x10, and 7x17. I'm sorry to say
that I've never
done any pinhole in 120, and my only experiment with 35mm was when I taped a
pinhole over my Pentax LX. I don't think I'm going to be mailing that to
anybody. My only
handmade pinhole camera was fashioned (thanks to Stuart's suggestion last
year) from
a box that once housed 25 sheets of 4x5 Kodak E64 tungsten! I'd be happy to
work with
120 or 35mm, but it might involve tearing up my virgin Diana. So who's going
to stick to
35mm, who's going to go 120, who's a polaroid maestro?
