The actual batteries cost about $7 from Polaroid and they last just
about forever (although long exposures for pinhole work will probably
eat the batteries faster).
Type "N" batteries are very small 1.5 volt bateries, and I have heard
that three of them (to make a 4.5 volt supply) will fit in the battery
compartment. Otherwise, a holder (from Radio Shack) for 3 "AAA"
batteries can be stuck to the back of the camera with tape and the wires
run inside to the old battery contacts -- this costs about as much as
the "correct' battery the first time, but replacement batteries are then
much cheaper.
