It's a "between the lens" shutter, so the lens you see on the front is
only half of the total lens. The other part of the lens is visible from
the inside of the camera. The inner lens is held in place with a ring
that can be removed with a spanner. Removing the front lens requires
taking the front half of the shutter assembly off, a slightly
complicated task. I don't remember what holds the front lens on, but I
suspect it's another threaded ring requiring a spanner. The camera is
just made "too well" for easy conversion (at least not the way the
plastic cameras are) and you get an appreciation for how good the design
is by disassembling it.

It is actually fairly simple to remove the entire bellows/shutter/lens
assembly and glue your own light tight box/pinhole in place of it.
(Plus you can make it wide angle this way...)
