Brad -
I started out using a Yankee tank and very quickly started looking for something better. One of the problems is that the thing takes something like 52 ounces of solution, regardless of how many sheets you use. This means that if you only have 4 sheets to develop, you are going to expend 52 ounces of developer. Uneven development was another issue, as I slopped the thing back and forth. The good thing is that the tank works wonderfully well as a washing tank and use it for that to this day.
I can highly recommend using BTZS tubes, or if you want to save money then you can make your own. Using only 2 ounces of fluid per sheet, it is economical, so you'll expend 8 ounces of developer for those 4 sheets, not 52. You will get very even development and can develop each sheet with a different time/developer/dilution etc. For sheet film users, this is quite important.
Personally, I can't imagine using anything other than tubes, as they are cheap and (IMHO) considerably better than any other solution.
Cheers -
george
