I just thought that I would mention that I have tried development by inspection and found it much more difficult than expected. Since the film has not cleared, you will not see things as easily as you might expect. One of the below articles says that one needs to practice it, and I am sure that to find success this must be the case. For myself I've found that it is not worthwhile, though others more practiced in this may see it differently.
