Pinhole is my TV

Murray, after 32 years (I hasten, of course, to add that this accounts for
well over 99.9% of my life!), the culture shock is something We do not
address frontally. Lists of actors' names are a blur, and sound a little
like, well, "like" and "um". There's almost no going back.

BUT it isn't true that 30 years w/o TV puts you out of the loop. One friend
of mine has asked me over and over why I don't want to know what's going on.
Ha. His ear is dead to something. The fact is, the zeitgeist seaps like a
broken toilet. It's true that I don't recognize Academy Award names (not
since Butch Cassidy...); but it is preposterous to suppose that one needs
popcorn and a TV at 6 PM in order to know about Iraq or The Patriot Act.

My pinhole-to-the-world works fine. And MAN is pinhole quiet! Ever met
somebody who ruminates while watching TV? Did you believe them?
