I once helped house sit in the most interesting house. This was here in
Saskatoon - a medium sized city with all the modern conveniences.

It had no phone, clock, radio, or tv (or computer - but this was before
the net)

It did have a massive collection of books and records, and the most
awesome stereo system I had encountered.

A nice place to escape to.
