Still Life Revisited

Many thanks to all of you for your support regarding my challenge with the
still life composition. I also received some sound advice via email from
Guillermo and Richard.

It looks like easiest thing to do is to increase the focal length of my
camera since getter very close to the objects being photographed adds some
interesting distortions, but doesn't really cut down on the extraneous
information in the frame.

My pinhole came ready-made. It's a Zero 4X5 with 25m focal length. It is a
multi format system with a turret which rotates between a pinhole and zone
plate with a simple adjustment. It also accepts a Polaroid back which is
what I've been using. Polaroid makes some great 4X5 instant film and the
Type 55 sheets have both a positive and negative. Once I've increased my
skill, I want to try the color transfer film!

The Zero camera company also sells extension frames for my camera allowing
me to increase the focal length--they work like a bellows of sorts. Which
brings me to my next question. I'm thinking that 100-150mm length might do
the trick, but would love to hear from others doing pinhole still life work.
