Re: distilled water

Hello
Why is it so important to use distilled water when mixing the chemicals for cyanotypes.
I have had a bit of trouble getting hold of some.
And because I am just experimenting at the moment, II have been using tap water.
But am getting strange blemishes on my pictures.
could this be a result of using tap water.
