Hi, I'm Bre Pettis out of Seattle and I've become
completely obsessed with pinhole photography. I'm
just writing in because I'm proud of making a neat
pinhole stereo camera.
I took two argus 75 cameras and converted them to
pinholes by taking them all apart and putting them
back together with .001 brass shim stock instead of a
lens. Then I cut one of the film winders off with a
saw and and sealed the hole with electricians tape.
Then I velcroed them together. I'm really pleased
with the results. I took some lens out of some free
binoculars I got from target to make a viewer.
I'm using paper as film. I just make 2 1/2 by 4 inch
strips and fold them at 3/4 of an inch and put that
through the roller at the bottom.
One of the nice things about this is that the
viewfinders are still there since it's a twin lens
camera and the picture takes a picture that is about a
1/4 inch bigger than the viewfinder image.
I got a changing bag to change the film in and I wish
I'd bought the big bag instead.
On another topic I'm excited to make an wide angle
8x10 camera. I want to use it to take portraits of my
schoolteacher friends. There is something about a
portrait that is neat when the person has to stay
still for a whole minute or so.
I started out using salt boxes and 4x6 paper and got
some neat stuff. I'm interested in the whole cyan
type stuff that folks talk about.
Anyhow I just wanted to introduce myself and
appreciate this list. I went throught the archives
for a few hours and learned a lot.
Bre Pettis
