Hi:

I've run into a few of those situations as well, where the light is
failing and it will be dark before the picture is done.

You could try intensifing the image. I could look up info on
intensifiers.

The instrument you want is called an integrator, although they are usually
used with a graphic arts UV printer to measure the total exposure of UV.
Often UV light souces have uneven output over time.

I don't know if there is such a thing for daylight. I'll check some
instrument catalogs
