Here's how I figure it. On a 35mm, 50 is normal (the diagonal of the
24mmx36mm frame is 48mm) on a 4x5 180mm is normal. Half of 50 is
25, and half of 180 is 90mm so a 24mm has about the same angle as a
90 on 4x5. Now your 12 is half of that 24 so we half our 90 to 45.
