I have flown to several locations in the US in the past few months. I put my film in my suitcase (B&W, color neg & chrome - 400 & 3200asa). Last summer.I used the same procedure when I flew to Turkey including several interior flights while there. I have never had any problems with fogging. The carry-on baggage scanners are suposed to be more powerful than the storage baggage scanners, even the film in my cameras - some of it 3200asa - which was included in carry on was ok.
By putting several layers of cardboard strips cut from a 120 film box beneath the film roll (not the wind-up roll) of your plastic camera, helps to reduce or elimanate the loose roll problem.
