RE: BTZS focusing cloths, I have one for a 4X5 , and LOVE IT... and, moving
up to 8X10 format here in a couple weeks , soon as my 8X10 view camera
arrives, am placing an order for a 8X10 focusing cloth... I think the 4X5
ones sell for about $59.95 , and the 8X10 ones for $64.95 . some "might " say
a bit pricey for focusing cloth , but once you see one and use it , no
regrets, ......... I suppose one could make one, by going to a fabric store
and purchasing just plain black cloth and hemming it, I did that originally,
but what I did was get double length, folded it in half , sewed it, and had a
double ply cloth ......... one could take it a step further and measure the
back of the camera you are wanting to use, then sew in an elastic band, that
would fit over the camera back, thats all a BTZS cloth is anyway.. ( I think
this could also be found at a fabric store , basically its like the elastic
waist band in underwear or showercaps ) and the elastic comes in different
widths )
What i have found nifty is, that the BTZS cloth is white on one side, black
on the other ... sure is nice in the heat of summers, as it reflects , and
easily cleans with the swipe of a damp cloth , is weighty enough that it wont
flop around much in windy weather .
