more on the variable pinhole

Yesterday I mentioned the iris/motor assembly from All Electronics. I looked at
it more closely last night. The motor comes off easily by removing two small
screws. That leaves the iris assembly by itself. Besides the gear sector that
drives the iris, there is also a small lever. You could glue an extension to the
lever to easily control the iris. Without the motor, the iris moves easily and
closes completely. I could not see any light coming through the assembly when
it is completely closed, so it might make a nice shutter for a pinhole camera.
I'll try and get some pictures of it.
