Even easier is to buy a 1/4" thick piece of finished oak at Home Depot.
Comes in many lengths and widths. Small sizes and pre-sanded all sides.
Pretty cheap. It is a hard wood and will hold up well. Drill the hole and
hamer in the T-nut.
I've built many pinhole cameras with this technique.
