Hi:
I had some time to play around with my oven-cleaner photo etching of
linoleum blocks over the weekend.
First I ended up not using oven-cleaner - all of the stuff we had was
labelled as non-toxic non-corrosive. I ended up using Caustic Soda(NaOH)
it etches lino blocks very well. I did a test by rubbing some wax on a
section (to make a resist) and etching it. It worked great.
I then tried to make a photo sensitive resist. No success. I tried gum ,
gelatin and "white glue" each mixed with dichromate. exposed each to UV
light to harden them. The caustic soda "ate" all these resists up and
etched the entire plate.
I think I will see if I can find a milder etchant.
If I can get this working before Christmas I'll use it for the Christmas
exchange.
