In case anyone's interested, this is what the USPS website says ...
Postcard and Stamped Card Rates
Postcard $0.21
Stamped card (sold by USPS) 0.23
Postcard Rate Dimensions:
Minimum: 3-1/2 inches high by 5 inches long by 0.007 inch thick.
Maximum: 4-1/4 inches high by 6 inches long by 0.016 inch thick.
Postcards over the maximum height or length dimensions for card rates are
charged letter rates. The 1 ounce First-Class letter rate is $0.34. An
additional Nonstandard Surcharge of $0.11 is required if a postcard is 1
ounce or less and (a) over any of these dimensions: 11-1/2" long, 6-1/8"
high, 1/4" thick; or (b) the length divided by the height is
less than 1.3 or more than 2.5. For example, a postcard 11 inches long by 4
inches high would be subject to the nonstandard surcharge because it has an
aspect ratio of 2.75 (11 divided by 4 = 2.75). The rate for a postcard with
the Nonstandard Surcharge is $0.45 ($0.34 plus $0.11).
... wow, i guess it can get pretty complicated if you don't stay equal to or
less than 4-1/4" x 6". :)
