From what I could see and feel from the television,
the European expression of solidarity and expression
of sympathy today was extraordinarily moving. I saw
these images after returning from the National
Cathedral, where a lone bell slowly, painstakingly
tolled for 15 minutes following the memorial
service--this followed by a soaring ringing of all the
bells in the cathedral's towers. The clouds at this
time moved in opposite directions--the low clouds
moving quickly north, the higher clouds moved slowly
south.
